Blue Jays roster moves: Barnes up, McGuire down

MLB: Chicago White Sox at Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Sousa-USA TODAY Sports

The Blue Jays are sending Deck McGuire back to Buffalo and bringing Danny Barnes up to the majors again. Or at least Shi Davidi tells us, and I’m not expecting that he’ll pull a prank on us.

Deck pitched 3.1 innings yesterday and got a hit, so it’s no surprise he’s heading back down for a fresh arm.

Barnes pitched just twice for Buffalo, he was down mostly to rest his arm, going 2 inning, with no hits or walks, and 4 strikeouts.

He had pitched in 16 games with the Jays, before being sent to Buffalo, putting up a 2.57 ERA in 14 innings, 16 hits, 2 homers, 8 walks and 15 strikeouts. Batters hit .291/.375/.436 against him, so the ERA is pretty misleading.

Welcome back Danny. And I’m sure we’ll see you again Deck.

Today’s Lineup. 1:10 Eastern start, if they get it in.
