Baseball fans are going to be having a pretty happening weekend down in Lansing with Pride Night tonight, a Noah Syndergaard Game of Thrones bobblehead giveaway on Saturday (save me one, Jesse!), and a red jersey giveaway on Sunday. Plus, the baseball team is hot, hot, hot having won nine straight games, despite some injuries.
They made a big announcement on Thursday up in triple-A—for a June series in June against Rochester, Buffalo will temporarily ditch the Bisons moniker and will instead play as the Wings to honour the city’s prized contribution to the culinary world. Rochester, whose team is normally known as the Red Wings, will be called the Plates, after the garbage plate, their lesser-known contribution to what humans consider as food.
We’ll talk about those promos, Blue Jays prospects’ defense, and more this week on Around The Nest, the Blue Jays minor league podcast. As always it will be hosted by the Voice of the Lugnuts Jesse Goldberg-Strassler and joined by the voices of each Blue Jays affiliate.
Around The Nest broadcasts live at 4 pm Eastern every Friday. Click here for a downloadable version (available after the live broadcast has concluded).
Here’s today’s episode summary from Jesse:
This week’s Around the Nest is brought to you by the letter D. Diving stops. Cannon arms. Barehand snags. Homer-robbing leaps. Glovely skills are on display on a nightly basis from Triple-A to Single-A, and the voices of the Blue Jays’ organization are ready to rave about what we’ve beheld. Plus, Buffalo makes an announcement (not having to do with Vladdy Jr.), New Hampshire plays must-see baseball (which might have a little to do with Vladdy Jr.), Kacy Clemens went deep with his father in the booth, and the Lugnuts’ winning streak reaches nine games. Join the voices of the organization, Jay-talking around the latest week’s worth of action!
