The roster moves keep on coming. The starting rotation has been a mess, so something needed to happen. Apparently Gibbons alluded to this in his very brief press conference last night.

Ah, shoulder inflammation. It would be reassuring if that’s what was causing Garcia’s struggles this season and was fixable. Hopefully some time away is all he needs to get himself sorted.
Deck McGuire has been recalled to take Garcia’s spot. Normally an optioned player cannot be recalled for 10 days, but in this case it’s permitted since he is taking the place of an injured player. McGuire last pitched in the Mets game on Tuesday - he had two scoreless innings, collected a hit, then allowed three runs in the following inning.
