Shi Davidi tweeted that Anthony Alford will be joining the Blue Jays today in Tampa.

That suggests that Curtis Granderson is out, at least for a couple of days. It might not necessarily mean that Granderson is going to the DL. Perhaps they will send a reliever out, if Granderson is day-to-day. Tim Mayza pitched the last two days, so they might be thinking of sending him out.

Alford is hitting .154/.182/.143 in 19 games at Buffalo, not exactly numbers that should get someone promoted, but such is life. If Granderson was to go onto the DL, then Dwight Smith could have been called up, which makes me think he’s not going on the DL. But you never know.

Justin Smoak should be joining the Jays today too, so there will be more roster moves coming today.

We’ve had a lot of roster movement over the last few days, after we went through most of April with very few roster moves.

UPDATE:

Alford will be taking Jake Petricka’s spot on the roster. The Blue Jays are back to a 7 man bullpen.
