Aledmys Diaz left today’s game in the top of the 5th inning with an ankle injury. Diaz was racing out an infield single, got to the bag about the same time pitcher Chris Archer did, but went over on the side of his ankle on the edge of the bag. Diaz was safe and drove in our first run of the game.
I’m not going to guess on the injury, but it certainly looks like he will be out for a few games at least. Loudes Gurriel took over at short and will likely get the lion’s share of the playing time at the position.
I’d guess that Richard Urena will be turning around and getting back on a plane to meet the Jays in Toronto.
Diaz is hitting .210/.269/.430 with 6 home runs.
I hope you are ok Diaz.
