Vladimir Guerrero Jr Out At Least a Month

It may not be hard to find a silver lining in this dark cloud

MLB: Spring Training-St. Louis Cardinals at Toronto Blue Jays Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

When Vladimir Guerrero Junior was pulled from his Fisher Cats game both times, it was reported that his pesky knee injury wasn’t a big deal and the moves were more precautionary. Once he was placed on the DL and flown to Dunedin, we suspected it might be more serious.

Today the Blue Jays announced Guerrero has a left patella tendon strain and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

This timeline will have Vladimir likely return to AA, and if he does well, earn him a promotion to AAA by the end of the season. He can then start 2019 in AAA and earn his big league call up right after the service time deadline next year. While no injury to a star prospect is a good thing, the front office must feel relieved that the immense pressure to promote him will be lifted.
