Tuesday Bantering: Trade Rumblings and Other Updates

Gurriel is back in the Majors too

After yesterday’s trade of Herrera to the Nationals, MLB trade season is officially underway.

Today we hear that the Blue Jays are garnering interest in Ryan Tepera. Tepera is off to a good start to his season, with a 2.75 ERA over 36 innings, and earning himself some save opportunities. He’s striking out 9.5 batters per 9, while walking 3, both career bests for the 30 year old.

He is first time arbitration eligible this winter, making him controllable through the 2021 season and a bit more valuable for teams to trade for.

Yesterday’s rumour was that JA Happ was drawing trade interest from the Yankees and Mariners, both teams being good fits for the lefty. I would imagine there are 10 other teams that should be lining up for Happ’s services as well.

Marcus Stroman’s start in New Hampshire was rained out yesterday, but he still got some work in and is ready to go, and looks to make a start in Anaheim this weekend.

And in 25 man roster moves, Sam Gaviglio is on paternity leave for a few days, and Lourdes Gurriel is back with the team in the meantime. I’m hoping he sticks around for a while and does well. When Gaviglio is reinstated for his next start, I’m hoping it’s Urshela that is gone, but time will tell.
