I love this time of year: the weather is warm, the days are long, and I now get a tonne of MiLB game alerts because the short season leagues are back in full swing.
This week was extra special because Jesse Goldberg-Strassler, the host of Around The Nest, and his broadcast partner Dante De Caria were the hosts of the Midwest League All-Star Game in Lansing. We’ll be sure to hear their stories about those festivities and the top prospects that were all playing at Cooley Law School Stadium this Tuesday, which ended in walkoff fashion.
Here’s today’s show description from Jesse:
The Bluefield Blue Jays’ Zach Helton jumps aboard to share early Appy League observations, plus the latest word from Vancouver, Lansing, Dunedin, New Hampshire and Buffalo. How do Christopher Bec and Nick Podkul look in the Northwest League? What was the key to Ryan Borucki’s a 7-inning shutout? Which players deserve Triple-A All-Star nods? What drove the Fisher Cats’ sweep of Erie? And how did Jim Tarabocchia (FSL), Dante De Caria and Jesse Goldberg-Strassler (MWL) enjoy their All-Star Game / All-Star Breaks? It’s all this week, Jay-talking around the Toronto minor league system!
