We have an early game today.
There isn’t much out there for Blue Jays news this morning. Everyone seems to have liked Borucki’s start last night. And everyone is talking about the defense from Aledmys Diaz.
- Richard Griffin writes about trading Kevin Pillar. I don’t know if he has any trade value at the moment. His defense isn’t what it once was. UZR has him at a -1.6/150 at the moment. I don’t see him as worse than average, but I don’t think he’s great anymore. And he’s not hitting at all. I think we may have missed the moment to trade him, maybe it was this summer. If some contender wanted him, I’d be happy with moving him, but I don’t see anyone giving us much in return. I think what gets missed Richard’s post that it takes two to make a trade. It is always the fan thing “let’s trade the bad players”, but you need someone to want them.
I don’t know how he can go from someone who was hitting so well in April to become want we'll seen lately. He hasn’t taken a walk since May 28, so it will be a full month in a couple of days. And he’s hitting .178 in that time.
- I wish we could find a way to get Danny Jansen up. I don’t suppose we could convince some contender that Russell Martin has enough value as a leader to make a trade. Or someone might like Maile? I really think it is time we give Jansen a shot.
Kevin’s still batting 6th. Grichuk bats at the top of the lineup, that I’m ok with. Maybe it’s time to move Travis from the 9th spot? Smoak gets the day off.
