Vlad named Eastern League Player of the Month for May

And Jays “Discuss” moving Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to Triple-A. Isn’t that a surprise.

MLB: Spring Training-St. Louis Cardinals at Toronto Blue Jays Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Two things that aren’t surprises.

First Vlad Guerrero Jr was named International League player of the month for May. Vlad led the Eastern League in average (.438), hits (49), extra base hits (19), total bases (86), runs (29), RBI (28), slugging (.768), OPS (1.248) and tied for first in home runs (nine). Guerrero posted 16 multi-hit games in May and had separate hitting streaks of seven, eight and 10 games as he reached base in 28 of his 29 games

And not that this is really news but the Blue Jays have discussed promoting Vlad to Triple A “within the next month”.

You think?

He’s only hitting .409/.461/.677 for the Fisher Cats. That’s he’s not been moved up yet is the surprise. At some point you have to worry that it’s too easy for him at AA and he’ll develop bad habits.

And Friday’s game is Pride Night at Rogers Centre.

The first 20,000 fans who enter Rogers Centre will receive a Blue Jays Pride Hat giveaway. Plus, all fans attending the game can take part in pride-themed activations in the WestJet Flight Deck, including live entertainment, photo opportunities, temporary tattoo and rainbow flag giveaways, and food sampling.

I’ll admit I’m curious about what ‘pride-themed activations’ might be, but I’m glad the Blue Jays are doing this. Good job Jays.
