The main piece coming back is Yusniel Diaz an outfielder. He was #73 on Baseball Prospectus Top 100 Prospects list. He’s 21, and has been playing in AA. This season he’s hitting .314/.428/.477 with 6 home runs, 41 walks and 39 strikeouts. If you watched the Futures Game you saw him hit 2 home runs. He’s played all three outfield spots this year.
John Sickels, at Minor League Ball, ranked him as the Dodgers 7th best prospect.
They also got minor league pitchers Dean Kremer and Zach Pop and infielders Rylan Bannon and Breyvic Valera. Zach and Rylan were listed as ‘others of note’ in Sickels ranking of Dodger prospects.
Rylan is playing in High-A ball hitting .296/.402/.559 with 20 homers, 59 walks and 103 strikeouts, playing third base and second base. He was an 8th round pick in 2017.
Kremer is 22, pitching in AA, has a 3.30 ERA in 16 starts. 79 innings, 67 hits, 7 homers, 26 walks and 114 strikeouts. He was a 14th round pick in 2016.
Pop is a reliever. He’s 21, pitching in A ball. Has a 1.06 era in 43.1 innings. 25 hits, 1 homer, 13 walks and 47 strikeouts. He was drafted, but not signed, by the Jays in the 23rd round on the 2014 draft. Dodgers got him in the 7th round in 2017.
Valera has played in 20 games with the Dodgers this year, hitting .172/.273/.172. He’s 26, spent most of the season at AAA, hitting .284/.350/.433 with 6 home runs, 21 walks and 20 strikeouts.
I’m happy we won’t be seeing Machado 18 times a season. He’s hit .276/.344/.488 with 16 home runs in 95 games against the Jays.
What do you think, how did the Orioles do? Looks like a pretty good return for 2 and a half months of Machado, to me. It does make me a bit sad that, maybe, we could have had a return something like that for Josh Donaldson, if he wasn’t hurt and if he was having a good season.
The trade was held up for awhile with a problem with medical reports which gave us all a chance to make fun of the Orioles for a bit.
I think the Orioles did
