Blue Jays mid-term report card: Grade Aaron Sanchez’ first half

Like most of our Blue Jays, Aaron Sanchez has had an up and down first half.

There have been good starts: 8 innings of 3 hit ball in Baltimore on April 10th comes to mind.

And bad starts: 5 innings, 7 earned in Boston on May 28th is a good example.

All in it has been a disappointing first half for Aaron. 4.52 ERA and 3-5 record in 15 starts. FanGraphs has him at a 0.5 WAR. He is walking too many (12.6% of batters) and not getting enough strikeouts (18.7%).

And, of course, now he’s injured and we have no idea when he’ll be back.

I’m a fan, I think he has all the talent needed, he just isn’t showing it on the field and I’m not sure why it isn’t happening.

I could do without his commercials.
