Wednesday Bantering: Glute strain for Estrada

There are a few bits of news:

  • Blue Jays are saying that Marco Estrada has a glute strain. I’m going to have my wife call me a glute strain instead of a pain in the ass from now on. They haven’t decided if he is going on the DL or not. They would like him to pitch before the break, which is about 10 days away now. I’m thinking they could put him on DL and then he can be out until after the break. There isn’t much sense in pushing him, though I guess they are thinking trade value.
  • Gibby says Lourdes Gurriel should play, if he’s up with the team. Says Solarte needs a day off occasionally too and Diaz will play third those days. Gurriel could play outfield too. I agree he should play a lot.
  • Seunghwan Oh had a stomach flu and was sent home yesterday, but he’ll be available today.
  • Pillar gets a day off. Grichuk play CF. I don’t see all that much difference between the two on defense. Travis sits as well, Gurriel in at second. Bautista bats second for the Mets. Bautista vs. Stroman could be fun. Jose Reyes is in the lineup. I wonder if he’ll wave his batting helmet to the fans before his first at bat.
