Friday bantering

Hello offense my old friend

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterdays win was great for a whole variety of reasons:

  • Ryan Borucki battling through
  • Homers from Randal Grichuk and Teoscar Hernandez (who obviously took note of my critical comments yesterday)
  • Justin Smoak with a 3 hit game and a 13 game hitting streak
  • The bullpen not crashing and burning
  • Mookie Betts hitting a cycle BUT STILL LOSING

Tom has all your recap details here.

In other news Thomas Pannone got called up but intrigue surrounds who will start Monday. Is it him? Is it Hauschild? Or (in a whisper told by the trees) is it Sean Red-Foley?

There is also the rumour mill buzzing around the Jays for a number of things: is Gibby going? Is the clubhouse lacking leadership? Are the players not really trying anymore? Steve Buffery has more here,

Devon Travis had two more hits today. More importantly he is healthy, playing every day and smiling.

Aaron Sanchez pitched three innings in a game for the Gulf Coast Blue Jays, giving up four earned runs on five hits while walking two and striking out four (12.00 ERA). He’ll have at least one more start in the minors before returning to Toronto.

Down at AAA, the Bisons fell 9-5 to the Stripers (which i keep misreading...)

Dwight Smith Jr. 2-4, HR, 2RBI and #VladJr went 2-4 (3rd straight multi-hit game) and hit another homer. I think he may be good you know...

And at AA. Harold Ramirez continues to impress as he led the way with 4 hits and 2 RBI, with the Fisher Cats scoring 7 unanswered runs to beat the Baysox 7-2 and win the series. He is now hitting .321

Play of the day

This guy. Proving in one inning why he is a better outfielder than Teoscar:

Happy Friday everyone- its the weekend!
