GameThread Game #118: Blue Jays at Royals

MLB: New York Yankees at Kansas City Royals Peter G. Aiken

The last time the Blue Jays played the Royals there was a hole in the Rogers’ Center roof, and the Blue Jays were still in contention. It’s been a while.

It’s a very exciting day for us prospect watchers as two top Blue Jays prospects are making their major league debut in the same game. Sean Reid-Foley will be the starting pitcher, and Danny Jansen will catch for him. Plopping Reid-Foley down in the spacious ballpark that is Kauffman Stadium against a rebuilding Royals team is a pretty ideal environment for a first start (minus the humidity). His next would be at Yankee stadium, which is slightly less than ideal, but giving Ryan Borucki the Red Sox, Astros and Yankees in his first four starts wasn’t easy either.

We will get to see our fair share of Danny Jansen while he is here:

Watching these two together is going to be what I live for during the next retooling months.

We have some injury updates too:

Couple words of wisdom from John Gibbons for our new major leaguers:

Here are our lineups for tonight. Danny Jansen bats ninth, Russell Martin plays 3rd, and Grichuk bats cleanup on his birthday. Happy Birthday, Randal!
