The catcher logjam has been temporarily cleared as Luke Maile has been placed on the paternity list. In his place, the Blue Jays have recalled Billy McKinney from AAA Buffalo.
McKinney, who the Blue Jays acquired from the Yankees in the trade for J.A. Happ, made his major league debut earlier this season in Toronto. His stint in the bigs was cut short when he ran into the outfield wall and injured his shoulder. The Rogers Center is the only major league park he has played in, and he is now set to make his Yankee Stadium debut as a Blue Jay.
McKinney has homered in three straight games in Buffalo, putting up a slash line of .203/.292/.453 since he joined the herd on July 28th.
It seems like we could use another middle infielder over a fifth outfielder, but I think we are fresh out of those on the 40 man roster.
Congratulations to Luke, and welcome Billy!
