Yesterday i watched what i thought would be an even contest between two great sporting rivals but it ended up being a one sided thrashing.
I was watching the All Blacks vs Wallabies rugby match, but the same sentiment could have been shared about the Jays v Yankees.
In short, Sean Reid-Foley was no match for the powerhouse Yankees and he gave up eight runs (six earned) over 4.1 innings. He conceded seven hits, walked three and threw two wild pitches. At least he wasn’t facing Aaron Judge. Or Gary Sanchez. Or Derek Jeter.
Kate has your excellently titled and well rounded recap here.
Marcus Stroman, after fighting so hard to get over his shoulder ailment, is now hindered by a bad blister and will go to the DL. Thomas Pannone will likely be recalled from Buffalo to start for the Jays on Wednesday against the OrioLOLes.
In other ‘encouraging’ news for us in an already toilet bowl of a season, Gibby expects his young charges to make mistakes the rest of the year.
Mistakes i can take but Teoscar Hernandez stumbling around the outfield liked a tazed field intruder, really isn’t something i want to keep seeing...
In upbeat news, Danny Jansen hit a double in the second inning yesterday and became the 11th player in Blue Jays history to pick up at least one hit in each of his first four games. (last: RFG in 2013). Jansen is the only catcher to do it.
In other good stuff:
BREAKING: Bo Bichette is the new Fisher Cats single-season doubles king.
— NH Fisher Cats (@FisherCats) August 19, 2018
His second double of the day gives him 38 on the year, surpassing Mike McDade's 37 in 2011.

But despite this, the Fisher Cats were swept by the Trenton Thunder in a doubleheader yesterday, losing both games on walk-off walks.
Yep, you heard that right.
But proof that walk offs can also be good: Canada walked off Spain at the Little League World Series.
Walk off are fun. Walk offs on a balk? Its a good job the Mariners know a balk when they see one, because it appears the ump hasn’t got a clue what happened...
Sunday special- Holy Moly: sign her up!
Given our season, a spot of divine assistance wouldn’t go amiss. We should sign up this nun she has an out pitch Luis Santos can only dream of...
Anyway, have a blessed Sunday everyone! Lets hope our prayers are answered with a win and Tom survives his bike ride.
