Not much news going on ahead of our series against the Red Sox, so there is just some bits and pieces:
Stephen Brunt explains why he thinks John Gibbons and the Toronto Blue Jays may part ways before the 2019 season.
Shi Davidi has a nice story on how the a trade has reunited Brandon Drury with his mentor Troy Tulowitzki. To be honest, given how unlikely it is we will see Tulo on the field before the next century, maybe its time he took up a full time role like this?
Curtis Granderson receives a veteran present: the Jays 2018 Hustle and Heart award.
Rob Longley’s looks at Justin Smoak’s defensive game and says it’s all about ‘first base, first base, no trouble’. (sorry)
In other news, the Pirates rummaged in the bargain bin and hauled out Adeiny Hechavarria and will only pay him pennies. He must be use to penny pinching, having come from the Rays.
And the 39 year old Rick Ankiel is planning a comeback- as a relief pitcher. Given that he stopped pitching at age 25, maybe this isn’t as crazy as it sounds.
And Detroit’s Mike Gerber and Victor Reyes both go after the same ball in left-centre. What could possibly go wrong? (hint, everything)
Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!
