Forget the equinox—the season finale of Around The Nest should be the official end of summer. On Wednesday, the radio voices of the Blue Jays’ farm teams joined host Jesse Goldberg-Strassler for one final podcast to wrap up the 2018 minor league season.

We are so fortunate as Blue Jays fans to have a weekly podcast throughout the season that features the radio voices of every affiliate that has a broadcast. I don’t know of any other organization’s fanbase who gets to learn about their prospects from the people who see them play everyday in a single show that drops every week. I cannot thank Jesse enough for taking the reins and putting in the hard work to make this podcast a reality.

Of course, in addition to Jesse down in Lansing, I’d like to thank the podcast’s regular guests from 2018:

  • Zach Helton for the Bluefield Blue Jays
  • Rob Fai and Jordy Cunningham for the Vancouver Canadians
  • Dante De Caria for the Lansing Lugnuts
  • Jim Tarabocchia and Daniel Venn for the Dunedin Blue Jays
  • Tyler Murray, Tyler Zickel, and Bob Lipman for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats
  • Pat Malacaro for the Buffalo Bisons

Of course we benefited from the appearances from radio voices from outside the organization who came on the show to talk about the prospects the Blue Jays received from trades. These included (and forgive me if I forgot someone): Jeff Dooley, Ben Gellman-Chomsky, Adam Marco, Doug Maurer, and Gregory Young.

And of course: thank YOU for listening to the show and for your excellent questions every week.

Here’s the show’s description from Jesse:

It’s the final show of 2018, as the radio voices of the Blue Jays’ Minor League Baseball affiliates look back upon the summer and look forward upon the future. What were our standout moments, games and stories? Who won our hearts, who surprised us, and who should we watch out for next year? One last tour of Jay-talking for 2018, right now.

And there is bonus content in this finale podcast! We will hear from Blue Jays prospects Nate Pearson and Adam Kloffenstein as well as check in on the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays with manager Luis Hurtado.

Happy listening, and as Jesse always says: enjoy the baseball.
