That’s our 3rd win in a row. We haven’t won 3 in a row since our 5 game win streak that run from August 20th to 25th.
It was a terrific start for Ryan Borucki. 8 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. He didn’t give up a run. There was only two Orioles that made it to second base. He gave back-to-back singles in the third inning, but Austin Wynns hit a soft liner to short that came to Lourdes Gurriel near the ground and Lourdes ‘dropped it’ and then got an easy double (it would have been a triple play but Rowdy Tellez throw to third wasn’t perfect (and Yangeris Solarte made an awkward catch), but it was a nice easy double play.
By GameScore it was Ryan’s best start of the season. He had an 87. He had another 8 inning start, August 3rd against the Mariners. Kate, Minor Leaguer (and roughly 25,000 of our closest Blue Jays fans were at the game in Seattle). That game he allowed 4 hits, no walks and 2 strikeouts, for an 75 GameScore.
Tim Mayza pitched the 9th and had 3 strikeouts on 11 pitches.
Offensively we had just 6 hits, but 3 home runs. Danny Jansen hit his 2nd major league home run, Kevin Pillar hit his 14th of the year and Aldemys Diaz hit his 18th.
We scored 3 runs in the second inning: Pillar doubled, Rowdy Tellez singled him home and Danny Jansen hit is homer.
Pillar and Diaz had their solo homers in the 7th and 9th innings respectively.
Jays of the Day: Borucki (.386 WPA) and Jansen (.156).
No Suckage Jays. Grichuk had the low mark a -.053.
