Last year, during the final home game, Jays fans bid adieu to Jose Bautista. Today, Jays fans will bid adieu to another franchise great in John Gibbons.
When asked about his farewell yesterday, the team skipper had this to say:
I asked Gibbons whether he was enjoying the fans’ standing ovations every time he came back to dugout after a pitching change, Gibbons smiled and said, “usually they’re booing”, and then added “you’ve never heard of a bad eulogy, right?”

Gibby seriously is the best! Not only did he put his players first, their families too! He ALWAYS made sure to say hello with his sly grin and often would stop and take time to ask personal questions relating to our family and me specifically, that is NOT normal in baseball...

Here are today’s lineups. The Astros clinched their division late last night (does this mean no champagne celebration in the Rogers Center?) so there are lots of rookies on both sides.
Jon Berti is up with the team playing second base, and Kevin Pillar is batting second (sure). Tellez and Ureña get starts, and McGuire will catch for Reid-Foley.
