The Blue Jays announced another two September call ups today, bringing the active roster to a total of 35(!) players.
Justin Shafer has been recalled, and catcher Reese McGuire will be making his major league debut. The Blue Jays acquired McGuire in 2016 from Pittsburgh along with Francisco Liriano and Harold Ramirez for Drew Hutchison. Since he is already on the 40 man roster, we may as well call him up to give him the big league development the team has been granting to everyone but Vlad Jr.
McGuire has played in 96 games for AAA Buffalo this year, putting up a slash line of .233/.312/.339 with 7 homers and 37 RBIs.
A new journey begins tonight.
