The Blue Jays, at long last, have made a free agent signing. Tanner Roark, a RH pitcher is now a Blue Jay. He signed for 2 seasons, at $12 million per.
Tanner played for the Reds and A’s last year, making 31 starts, with a 4.24 ERA. and a 4.67 FIP. In 165.1 innings he allowed 180 hits, 51 walks and 158 strikeouts. He’s made 30 or more starts the last 4 seasons in a row.
He’s 33 now. Spent 6 seasons with the Nationals before being traded to the Reds before the 2019 season.
Career, in 7 seasons, he has a 3.71 ERA in 213 games, 172 starts.
I don’t mind the signing. He’s taken his turn in the rotation every time round for the past several years. We can use that. I’m happy with getting him. That’s not to say I wouldn’t like them to pick up another starter.
Of course this is pending a physical.
