The winner of the number 8 moment of the teens was, likely, the most purely fun moment on the list: Munenori Kawasaki’s game winning double and “I am Janpanese” post-game interview.
Kawasaki reminded us that the game was entertainment. He was fun. The running on the spot off first base. The dancing. And the great quotes: “Monkeys don’t get cramps” was a favorite of mine (a few years ago we were on holiday in Costa Rica a guide told us that monkeys, in the wild, don’t eat bananas and my son was so hurt, thinking that cartoons were lying to him all those years, but I digress). He was playing a kid’s game and having fun doing, that’s pretty refreshing.
I mean, you couldn’t build a winning team around a guy like Kawasaki, but it isn’t bad to have him around to keep the team loose and entertain us.
I was at this game, but I missed the interview, we were heading towards the exits.
Who wouldn’t like him?
Some are out of order this week.
