Blue Jays News: Surgery for Travis

MLB: Spring Training-Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

I really bad for Devon Travis. He has had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to fix a ‘small’ meniscus tear.

The team says he will rehab in Dunedin and be reassessed in 4 to 6 weeks. I would think he’ll start the season on the 60-day DL. I can imagine that he’ll pretty depressed about it all. I can’t imagine we’ll see him in Toronto until June at the very best.

And Mark Leiter had UCL reconstruction surgery on his right elbow. He will miss the season.

The team also announced that they have acquire right-handed pitcher Jason Adam from the Royals for cash. He has been assigned to the minor league camp.

Jason made pitched in 31 games for the Royals last year. He had a 6.12 ERA. In 32.1 inning he allowed 30 hits, 9 home runs, 15 walks with 37 strikeouts.

Adam, 27, was a 5th round pick in the 2010 draft. In the minors, last year, he pitched in 17 games, had a 1.50 ERA. In 24 innings he allowed 11 hits, 11 walks and 32 strikeouts. He throws a mid-90s fastball (averaged 94.5 mph last year according to FanGraphs) and good curve ball.
