Monday Bantering and GameThread

MLB: Spring Training-New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

There are a couple of bits of Blue Jays news.

The Jays have said that Eric Pardinho is ‘experiencing mild soreness in his right elbow’. He’s not throwing now and will stay in extending spring training for the time being. Do they always say ‘mild’ when they first tell us a pitcher’s arm is hurting?

Charlie Montoyo has said there will be ‘less’ video game playing in the clubhouse. They aren’t banning the games, but it sounds like games will be turned off at 6:00 for 7:00 games. If I was a player, I think I’d just not play. But then, I’ve been addicted to various games over the years.

There is a lot of down time in baseball, players are going to fill the time different ways. I don’t see video games being worse than playing poker or whatever else they do in the clubhouse. As long as they get their work in, I’m ok with it.

Clayton Richard gets the start today. I wish we were able to watch. He’s only pitched 4.2 innings this spring.

Pompey leads off. I wouldn’t mind him as our leadoff hitter this season. Eric Sogard plays today. I’d much rather Urena get the utility role, but I think it will be a tough call for the Jays.
