Saturday Bantering and Open Thread for Jays/Phillies

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies-Bryce Harper Press Conference Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Saturday.

I missed the big news, Bryce Harper is playing for the Phillies today, and apparently we’ll see a four man outfield against him.

The Blue Jays aren’t sharing much news with us today. No word on Pompey’s knee.

The one bit of news is that Cavan Biggio was in a ‘minor car accident’ on Wednesday. They said he’s been cleared to play tomorrow. Cavan said that Anthony Alford stopped at the crash to offer to help and was surprised to see his teammate involve. Biggio said it was good to see a friend’s face.

Today’s game is on TV. YAY.

And the team has been scoring. 41 run in their last 5 games. And the pitching has been good. It is great to see Sanchez and Stroman doing well early.

Today it is Shoemaker’s turn. He has given up 3 hits, 3 earned, 1 walk, 2 homers with 6 strikeouts in his 4.2 innings. His last start, went well for 2 innings, but he had trouble in the 3rd inning (but that started with a runner reaching after a strikeout). It will be good to get to see him throw.

We have a few of the regulars in the lineup. And Alford gets to play again, after hitting 2 home runs yesterday. I’d love to see him have a good year and give the team a push towards making room for him on the roster.

The park in Clearwater is beautiful.
