Yesterday rookie Trent Thornton made quite the first impression, striking out eight over five shutout innings, surpassing the franchise record of seven strikeouts from a rookie, set by Matt Boyd in 2015.
In doing so it extended our starters’ shutout streak to 24 innings. That hasn’t been done in the majors since 1994, by Atlanta.
However, we did lose the series concluder 4-3, and we burnt up 7 bullpen arms in the process. Clearly we need to summon some more pitching help. Thank heavens Mark Leiter (Fluid) isn’t able to play this year...
And while we may not have won the decider, at least we got a little Rowdy:

And with Clayton Richard now having knee knack, Sean Reid-Foley will start the series opener against Baltimore OriLOLes tonight. Reid-Foley went 2-4 with a 5.13 ERA in seven starts in 2018.
Meanwhile, we are still waiting on Ryan Borucki as well, who will miss at least one more game, thus giving Trent Thornton another turn.

Rumours suggest the Giants are eying up Kevin Pillar while the Padres are looking lustfully at Marcus Stroman.
Coming out of the pen this year, Joe Biagini has faced 11 hitters so far this season. He’s walked two, hasn’t given up a hit - and struck out seven. #HeIsAReliever
The currently recovering John Axford is 36 today- Happy Birthday Ax Man!

The Phillies are the only remaining unbeaten team...but lets keep it in context shall we?

Last time they started 4-0, they went to the World Series.
In 1915.
Christian Yelich is only the sixth player in MLB history to homer in each of his team’s first four games. The others: Willie Mays, Mark McGwire, Nelson Cruz, Chris Davis and Trevor Story.
Joey Gallo was just a little off with this throw...and by little i mean a country mile. Incoming!!

And talking of being just a bit outside, what could possibly go wrong with having a dinosaur throw out the first pitch? (NB, still better than 50 Cent’s effort):
