Hello world!
My name is Hayden Godfrey, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Around the Nest team for this season! You may have seen my name at various other places in the online Blue Jays blogsphere, including Jays Journal, Blue Jays Nation, and the lovely confines of Blue Jays Twitter.
I’m also going to be contributing to MiLB.com’s coverage of the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts this season, and will be helping out Minor Leaguer and Jesse on the podcast!
Today marks the third episode of Around the Nest:
The Minor League Baseball season is eight days old, and we’ve seen snowouts and coldouts and walkoffs and a Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. home run. Who’s made the best initial impressions? We’ll talk about them right here!
Around The Nest is a weekly podcast about the Blue Jays’ minor league system hosted by the Voice of the Lugnuts Jesse Goldberg-Strassler and featuring the voices of each of the Jays’ active minor league affiliates. It usually goes live every Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm during the season.
As always, we welcome your questions in the comments below. Here are a few questions from the Around The Nest team:
- Cavan Biggio (1.325 OPS, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 10-for-24, 6 BB) has been unbelievable thus far for the Bisons. Does he beat Bo Bichette to the big leagues?
- Anthony Alford (1.013 OPS, 7-for-24, 3B, 2B) has quietly been productive so far this season. With Socrates Brito struggling mightily with the big club, how long until Alford gets the call up?
- In Lansing, Jackson Rees has thrown seven scoreless frames and has racked up 11 strikeouts. This is Rees’ first full professional season, and this might be the first time many of you are hearing about him. Who’s your favourite under-the-radar name in the Blue Jays minor-league system?
