Jays Roster Moves: Tepera back, Guerra DFA

Finally the Blue Jays have reinstated Ryan Tepera from the IL, after he has been hanging around Minneapolis for the last few days. It will be good to have him back in the setup role.

Apparently Tepera has had a cortisone shot to help with the soreness in the elbow.

The surprise, to me, was that the team has decided to DFA Javy Guerra to make room for him. Javy had pitched in 9 games so far this season, had a 5.40 ERA, pitched 10 innings, 9 hits, 4 walks and 12 strikeouts. I thought there would be a better way to make room for Tepera than possibly losing a useful pitcher.

Maybe Javy will clear waivers, he’s 33 now and hasn’t really established himself as a major leaguer yet. I guess we have several young players who are close to ready to help in the pen, if needed.
