Welcome everyone to another fantastic week of Around the Nest!
In Week 2 of the Minor League season, the Toronto Blue Jays’ affiliates have caught fire! Two organizational sweeps means two cake days, plus one cycle (Ryan Gold), one grand slam (Ryan Gold), one 7-RBI game (Ryan Gold), one 6-RBI game (Santiago Espinal), one 9-K game (Nate Pearson), and one baseball blasted out into the parking lot (Vladimir Guerrero, Jr.). Let’s talk about it!
Around The Nest is a weekly podcast about the Blue Jays’ minor league system hosted by the Voice of the Lugnuts Jesse Goldberg-Strassler and featuring the voices of each of the Jays’ active minor league affiliates. It usually goes live every Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm during the season.
This week will feature conversations with Pat Malacaro of the Buffalo Bisons (4:12 PM), Adam Jaksa of the Lansing Lugnuts (4:06 PM), and more!
As always, we welcome your questions in the comments below. Here are a few questions from the Around The Nest team:
- Can Cavan Biggio (7-for-11, 3 BB this week) really keep up this offensive tear he’s been on?
- When does Santiago Espinal get promoted to Buffalo? Since joining the organization, he’s been one of the more pleasantly surprising minor-league names...
- Which outfielder do you think should take the roster spots of the dreadfully ineffective Alen Hanson and Socrates Brito? Alford? Fields? Biggio? Let us know!
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! If you’re interesting in chatting more about the Blue Jays and their minor league affiliates, you can find the Around the Nest team on Twitter! We are:
