Let’s call it the Vlad effect

Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Blue Jays fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

Compared to a lot of team’s sites, our FanPulse numbers have stayed pretty consistent.

The approval poll for manager Charlie Montoyo gave up a 98% approval, up from 94% last week. His five week low was 82%.

The confidence in the direction of the team number is 83% this week, last week it was 69%. I’m guessing that the belief that Vlad was finally going to get called up helped this week’s poll. Next time, we’ll see if having Vlad up changes the number.

The fanbases with the least confidence in team direction are the Pirates and Yankees, tied at 36%. The Yankees’ number dropped from 72% last week. I don’t follow the Yankees enough to know if there is a reason for the drop. At the other end of the scale the Brewers, Phillies and Padres all got 100%.

On the other side the fanbase whose manager had the lowest approval rating is the Mets at 39%. The Yankes fans don’t like their manager much better, Aaron Boone had a 44% approval number. Maybe it is something about being in New York. The ones that like their managers the most are the Brewers and Rangers, both at 100%. I can understand the Brewers vote. The Rangers? I don’t understand as much.

The National poll was: Is it ever ok for a pitcher to bean a batter? This question caused some issues because some believe the term bean means throwing at the head and some believe it means hitting a batter in any part of the body. If you believe the former, I can’t imagine anyone would think that’s ok. The other? Well, I don’t like the idea but I can understand it more if you throw at the batter’s thigh.

If you haven’t joined the signed up for the FanPulse, give it a shot. It doesn’t take much time, they only ask three questions a week.
