Roster Moves: Blue Jays select the contract of Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Richard Ureña optioned to AAA

It’s VLAD day

IT’S HAPPENING. The day we have all been waiting for is here.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s contract has officially been selected by the Blue Jays. To make room on the 25 man roster, Richard Ureña has been optioned down to AAA Buffalo, so it sounds like Freddy Galvis won’t need an IL stint. The Blue Jays already had an open spot on the 40 man roster from Javy Guerra’s DFA.

MLB Network will be airing the Blue Jays/Athletics game tonight, and it is also the MLB.tv free game of the day. Lastly, Sportsnet has moved the game to their basic channels, so everyone should be able to watch tonight.

There has been a frenzy of Vlad Jr content on the web today. Here are some of the best ones, in case you’ve missed them:

I’m not crying...you’re crying.

In hindsight, we should have known Vlad Jr’s call-up was coming when Marly Rivera was sent to Toronto on a random Wednesday when the Jays were playing the Giants.

Welcome to the Blue Jays, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

If you are looking to celebrate this great and historical day, you can get your very own Vlad Jr. t-shirt made by the same lovely people who did the Jose Bautista Bat Flip shirt. It is the first MLBPA-approved Vlad shirt on the market, so the players get a cut from the proceeds. Also, a portion of the sale will go to Bluebird Banter’s cheese doodle fund.
