The Blue Jays have signed Ben Revere to a minor league contract. He is to report to Extended Spring Training and go from there.
You might remember that Ben was a Blue Jay once before. Back in 2015 we traded for him at the deadline, getting him from the Phillies for Alberto Tirado and Jimmy Cordero. He played 56 games down the stretch, hitting .319/.354/.381 with 7 steals. In the playoffs he hit .255/.314/.277 in 11 games.
After the season we shipped him to the Nationals for Drew Storen. Since then he has been with the Angels, Reds. Angels again and he signed with the Rangers back in February, but he didn’t make the team. He hit .273/.333/.318 in 22 spring training at bats with them. He hasn’t played in the majors since 2017.
Last year he hit .277/.319/.406 in 40 games for Salt Lake in the PCL.
I’d imagine Revere be going to Buffalo after he gets in shape in Dunedin.
