We haven’t done one of these in a while, and the Blue Jays made a handful of moves yesterday so it has me wonder what everyone feels about the front office. I mean I know what Twitter and Jays Talk folks think, but how about you guys. I can read a few hundred complaints that the front office is stupid or insane, but it really inform my opinion.
- The Pillar trade was a surprise. I kind of like it.
- The Grichuk extension was also a surprise and I’m happy about it.
- The trade for Brito is interesting.
- I’m liking the changes in how the minor leaguers are being coached.
- I absolutely love that they are going to pay the minor leaguers more. I think it is criminal how poorly the minor leaguers are being paid and the front office took a big step in the right direction.
On the flip side, we aren’t playing well. I’m not sure how that relates to the front office, but it is what it is.
And I wish the team with make a long term deal with Vladimir Guerrero and maybe Bo Bichette as well.
I’d also kind of like them to make offers to Stroman and Sanchez, but I’m sure they want to see how things go for a while first.
The major one I didn’t like was this:
Atkins: We’re not in a popularity contest, we’re in a contest to win championships, which sometimes leads to unpopular decisions. In the end, we felt like this was the best thing for the organization. #Bluejays

The problem is the team does need or at least should want the team to be popular. I know it is tough to be popular when you are rebuilding. But you should want to be making people people interested coming to the park. Running a team is, at least parting, a popularity contest.
Of course, the easy way to be popular is to win.
The front office isn’t warm. Or at least they don’t project likability. That’s something that won’t change until we win. I don’t know howmuch that matters, but if they were likable they’d be able to sell the rebuild better. Or I think they would.
I don’t know, I guess they took over the team at the wrong time to be liked.
Anyway, give us your vote.
