Sometimes my team irritates me.
The Blue Jays have sent Sean Reid-Foley and Anthony Alford down to Buffalo and have added Alen Hanson and Socrates Brito to the active roster.
I was hoping that Alford would be up to stay, get 400-500 at bats and be given time to show what he can do. Instead it looks like he’s the up and down guy for the season.
I guess they want to have a look at Brito. He did have a good season in PCL Reno last year, hitting .318/.383/.540 with 15 steals. The PCL inflates offensive numbers, but that’s still a good season. His minor league numbers, over 9 seasons, are good, in 801 games, he’s hit .292/.338/.432 with 146 steals. Everyone says how fast he is, so he could be fun to watch.
Hanson is another who has looked good in the minors, but hasn’t shown anything in the majors. He has been on Baseball America’s top 100 prospects list twice, #61 in 2013 and #76 in 2014. In 8 minor league seasons he’s played in 740 games, hit .284/.343/441.
I’m guessing that Pannone will get the start Saturday, but it is possible that there will be more moves before then.
Brito is in tonight’s lineup (now would be a good time to remind everyone that the game starts at 6:00 Eastern).
Buffalo Bisons are playing right now. As I type this it is 3-0 Bisons.
Here it is, the #Bisons Opening Day starting lineup! It's a beautiful day for baseball in Buffalo ☀️Who's in? ️https://t.co/QG8swQS5Qe pic.twitter.com/A8VjOU5lok
