Around The Nest - Blue Jays Minor League Podcast - Week 2, 2019

On the Eve of the Season

Jesse Goldberg-Strassler / Lansing Lugnuts

The Around The Nest crew got together to record an episode a couple days ago on the eve of the minor leagues’ opening day.

Around The Nest is a weekly podcast about the Blue Jays’ minor league system hosted by the Voice of the Lugnuts Jesse Goldberg-Strassler and featuring the voices of each of the Jays’ active minor league affiliates. It usually goes live every Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm during the season.

In this episode, the new host of Blue Jays Talk on Sportsnet radio Scott MacArthur calls in to talk about his first spring training in his new role. He is followed by the Voice of the Heard Pat Malacaro (say mah-lah-CAR-oh) talking about his exciting Bisons team that is looking to reach the International League postseason for the first time since 2005, Tyler Murray of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats discussing the promise of Zach Logue and the loss of Rodrigo Orozco, and the Dunedin Blue Jays’ broadcaster Jim Tarabocchia speaking about Maverik Buffo being leaner and stronger (and Buffo’s moment with Clay Buchholz). Finally to wrap up the show, Jesse tells us to watch out for the 6’7”-225 pitcher Sean Rackoski, a non-drafted free agent who has been working on a two-seamer with a lot of movement.

Starting next week there will be a question thread up every Friday for you to ask the cast of Around The Nest your questions about the Blue Jays’ minor league system!
