No surprises here:

  • The Blue Jays have added Edwin Jackson to the roster.
  • Thomas Pannone gets shipped to Buffalo.
  • Matt Shoemaker goes to the 60-day IL (I’m going to be typing DL and fixing it later all season) to make room on the 40-man.

Edwin was pretty good last year. He had a 3.33 ERA in 17 starts for Oakland. In 95 innings he allowed 75 hits, 12 homers, 37 walks and 68 strikeouts. He gets the batter to put the ball in play and hopes his defense makes the plays. He’s made 3 starts in the minors for the A’s, with a 6.75 ERA in 14.2 innings. He’s allowed 14 hits, 4 homers, 7 walks and 19 strikeouts. It will be interesting to see him today.

Pannone has a 6.85 ERA in 22.1 innings for the Jays. He was doing pretty good for most of April but his last few outings haven’t been great. He’s done great against LHB (.194/.235/.387) but RHB have been crushing him (.304/.394/.446). I’m sure we’ll see him again this year.

We knew Shoemaker was going on the 60-day at some point.
