Aaron Sanchez leaves game with blister

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago White Sox Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Things were going good for Aaron Sanchez. He got through the first 2 innings without a base runner.

The Blue Jays had a long top of the third inning, Buck and Pat said that Aaron was sitting for 28 minutes, so it was understandable when he wasn’t as sharp in the 3rd inning, but he got out of it with only a couple of runs scoring.

Then he started the 4rd inning with a hit batter and a walk and then Charlie Montoyo came out with the trainer and took Aaron out of the game. They were looking at his finger and a few minutes later the Jays announced that he had a blister on his right middle finger.

It was raining in Chicago and a wet ball mine help a blister along, but I don’t understand why they would send him out to start the 4th inning if they knew there was a blister building. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

With Clay Buchholtz and Matt Shoemaker (as well as Ryan Borucki) already on the DL, the Jay are very short of starters. If Aaron has to miss some starts there will be some scrabbling to find guys to fill out the rotation.
