Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gets the day off. He’s going to get more days off than we would like.
Brandon Drury gets his place on the field and in the batting lineup.
Teoscar Hernandez is hitting .208/.208/.323. I’m thinking, if I ran things. I’d send him and Billy McKinney down to Buffalo and bring Cavan Biggio and Lourdes Gurriel up to play the corner outfield spots. Hernandez and McKinney can play every day and get their swings down. And Biggio and Gurriel can play everyday and show they can hit like they are hitting in Buffalo.
Why not send Brito down? Because I don’t mind him as the fourth outfielder/pinch runner type that stays on the bench and doesn’t play much. Biggio, Gurriel, Hernandez and McKinney I want hitting every day.
I guess Gurriel’s throwing troubles might be an issue, but I think he’ll be better with the long throws than the short ones. I’d just like both up in Toronto while they are hitting so well.
Anyway, I know it isn’t going to happen, but that’s what I’d do.
As expected, no Vlad today. Sogard back in, leading off. #BlueJays try to kick down the brooms in Anaheim tonight. pic.twitter.com/biVPZnJy3A
