This week’s question was about the draft and our first round pick. Most of us liked the Jays using their first pick to get Alek Manoah. Ask us again in 2 years there might be a different response, but Alex looks like the type of guy we’d want in the first round. I’m hoping his rise to the majors is quick.
I’d be interested in who the 6% would have preferred they pick, but then there were a lot of good players available with the 11th pick.
I’m happy with the first 2 picks, I like big guys who can throw hard. I’m curious to see where they start and how they do in the minors.
All the teams’ fanbases liked their first picks. The team with the highest percentage of no votes was the Angels. 32%. They had the 15th pick and chose Will Wilson a SS from North Carolina State.
The national question was about netting. After the little girl got hit last week, it was the obvious question. I never want to see anyone hurt at a game. People say you should be watching all the time, but that’s not possible. There are venders, scoreboards, people to talk to, all sorts of things that will take your attention for moments at a time. And a ball coming into the stands at 100 mph will ricochet off everything, you might not think it is coming at you and then it does. There isn’t much reaction time if it changes direction a few feet away.
Anyway, most feel we should have more netting:
I’m always on the side of protecting people. People will complain about the netting for a little while and then stop noticing it. But I guess it does separate us from the players a little bit more.
In the weekly polls, 91% of us approve of the job manager Charlie Montoyo is doing. As always, we’ll have complaints. I think it is time to give up on the outfielders being so far back that we have fly balls falling in front of the outfielders.
The do you have confidence in the direction of the team question got 88% saying yes. At the opposite end, National fans had 6% of their voters saying yes to the same question.
