Blue Jays roster moves: Richard to IL, Jackson activated

MLB: New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Clayton Richard has been put on the IL with a left lat strain.

And to fill his roster spot, Edwin Jackson, whose ERA is, like the Great Wall of China, is one of the few man made things that can be seen from space, had been activated from the IL.

Jackson has pitched 3 times in Buffalo on a rehab assignment, with a 4.50 ERA. In 4 innings he’s allowed 1 hit (a home run), 1 walk with 3 strikeouts. I’m expecting he’ll be in our bullpen.

Richard has a 5.96 in 10 starts. In 45.1 innings he’s allowed 53 hits, 9 home runs, 18 walks and 22 strikeouts.

We are going to need a starting pitcher Tuesday and Thursday this week. I’m thinking or maybe hoping that they aren’t planing on Jackson filling one of those spots.

Update:

Reid-Foley has had a couple of rough starts in Buffalo. He went 3 innings last Sunday, giving up 3 hits, 4 earned, 4 walks with 6 strikeouts. Yesterday he went 4 innings, 2 hits, 2 earned, 5 walks with 5 strikeouts.

I don’t know why Ryan Borucki wouldn’t be considered. He threw 5 innings and 80 pitches Thursday.
