The festive season came early for the Red Sox yesterday as they lit up Trent Thornton like a Christmas tree. Trent surrendered a career-high seven runs on a career-high 11 hits in 2 2/3 innings of work.
Apparently Freddy Galvis noticed Thornton tipping his pitches today and pitching coach Pete Walker will look into the video and help him adjust before his next start.
However, this is a worrying trend as he tipped pitches earlier this season in games against Tampa and Minnesota. So questions arise as to what exactly is going wrong?.
Talking of struggling pitchers, Charlie Montoyo says he has no plans to demote Aaron Sanchez. I have no idea whether this is a good or a bad thing.
On the plus side from yesterday, Sean Reid-Foley completed one of his best outings as a major-leaguer. Pitching in relief one day ahead of his scheduled start, faced 10 Red Sox hitters and retired them all, with 4 Ks.
What this does mean however, is that Jacob Waguespack will probably be recalled from triple-A Buffalo to start tomorrow. So another roster move will be forthcoming to make room.
In other pitcher news, Nate Pearson now ranks 16th among all prospects. Although he is on the On the minor-leagueIL, he has a 1.89 ERA in 47.2 innings so far this year, with 66 Ks and just 8 BB.
#BlueJays pitching prospect Eric Pardinho made his Class A Lansing debut tonight at age 18. RHP went 4 innings, allowing two runs. 4 Ks, 2 BB
