I’m sad about this one. Joe Biagini is going to the Astros.
Joe has a 3.86 ERA in 49 games this season. He pitched 49 innings, allowed 50 hits, 8 homers, 17 walks and 49 strikeouts.
Joe has had an interesting time of it since being grabbed in the Rule 5 draft before the 2016 season. He was very good in relief in 2016. Then had troubles as a starter in 2017. Last year wasn’t great but this year he’s been pretty good. I’ll miss him.
We’ll update when we know what the Astros gave up for him.
Update:
Aaron Sanchez is going with Biagini for outfielder Derek Fisher. Fisher was a first round pick in 2014. He was number 83 on MLB’s top prospects list before the 2017 season. He is hitting .286/.401/.522 for Triple A Round Rock. 14 home runs in 60 games. He’s been playing mostly right field.
Update:
Cal Stevenson is also going to Houston. Cal was a 10th round pick in 2018. He is hitting .298/.388/.393 in Dunedin this season. He’s a left fielder.
I don’t think I’m a fan of this one. I’d have liked to keep Aaron and see if the last couple of good starts represent a real change. And Biagini? I don’t see why there was a rush to get rid of him.
Fisher seems like a fourth outfielder type.
I guess there is more coming from the Astros....so I’ll reserve judgement.
