Jays Roster Moves: Shafer Up, Davis Down

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

It has been hours since our last roster move.

This one surprised me because we are going into the All-Star break after today’s game, so why?

Anyway, Justin Shafer is back up with the team and Jonathan Davis (why do I keep thinking his name is Anthony?).

Shafer has pitched in 6 games with the Jays, has a 2.89 ERA in 9.1 innings. 9 hits, 2 homers, 8 walks and 9 strikeouts. He was sent down June 20th. In Buffalo he has a 1.88 ERA in 28.2 innings, with 22 hits, 7 walks and 33 strikeouts.

Davis got a couple of innings of work in the outfield yesterday and had an at bat.

Today’s lineup. Vlad is moved down to the 5 spot. Grichuk is still out of the lineup. They really could have put him on the IL. Since he hasn’t played since the 3rd and with the All-Star break, he’d only miss a couple of games after the break.
