The Blue Jays have taken left-handed hitting catcher Beau Taylor from the A’s off waivers. Beau is 29, he’s played 16 games in the majors career. He was a fifth round draft pick in 2011.
He’s played mostly at AAA Vegas this season, hitting .257/.408/.461 with 8 homers in 62 games there. The PCL is a hitter’s league.
In 9 minor league seasons, Beau has hit .259/.356/.374 with 41 homers in 700 games.
They were at 39 players on the 40-man, so they didn’t have to remove someone from the 40-man.
I don’t know what this might mean for Luke Maile, the Jays aren’t likely to go through the winter with 4 catchers on the roster. Maybe it means Maile won’t be recovered enough to play in September when the rosters expand.
