So I figured we might split this series. But I figured Waguespack might win and thought we had little chance against Soroka.
I went for drinks with Expo45 for drinks tonight, so don’t expect a real recap. I may have had a beer. And I may have had a couple of beers after the beer. But it was a good time.
Anyway Jacob Waguespack had one bad inning and that was basically the game. He gave up 5 runs (3 earned( in the second inning, which allowed Charlie to use the crappy end of the bullpen the rest of the way. Vlad made an error in there to help along the bad inning, but Jacob got hit had and often that inning.
Sam Gaviglio gave us 2.2 good innings. Jason Adam loaded the bases in the seventh on two walks and a hit batter and Neil Ramirez relieved him and unloaded the bases. And Buddy Boshers, did Buddy Boshers stuff, giving up a home run in the ninth.
Josh Donaldson didn’t get a hit in his two days back in Toronto. I’ll admit I was cheer for him to hit one out in the ninth, but it looked a little over anxious.
Offensively, we had 10 hits and 4 runs, which should be enough to keep us in a game, but not tonight. We should have scored more.
Vlad and Randal Grichuk each had two hits. Everyone else in the starting lineup had one hit, except for Rowdy Tellez who went 0 for 4 with a walk and could have helped out with a hit at the right moment.
Jays of the Day: No one got the number. Grichuk had the high mark at .080 WPA.
Suckage: Waguespack (-.313), Adam (-.133) and Tellez (-.139).
