We knew this was coming. The Blue Jays have activated Elvis Luciano from the 60-day IL. The part that surprised me was they have released Clayton Richard to make room.

Elvis was our Rule 5 pick, taken from the Royals. He pitched in 20 games before going on the IL with an elbow strain. He had a 6.51 ERA in 27.2 innings. He allowed 33 hits, 4 homers, 23 walks with 22 strikeouts.

Clayton Richard gets released on his birthday. He is 36 today. How nice. He made 10 starts for us, early in the year, putting up a 5.96 ERA. In 45.1 innings he allowed 53 hits, 9 homers, 18 walks and 22 strikeouts. He when on the IL with a lat strain and, well, that was his season. He got a couple of rehab starts in Buffalo, totaling 5 innings.

So happy birthday Richard.

Marcus Stroman had his best start (so far) for the Mets today, going 6.1 innings of 1 run ball and getting the win over the Diamondbacks.
