The big news is that Lourdes Gurriel is back, off the IL and in the lineup. It will be good to see him play, since the defense in the outfield and our offense has been lacking of late.
Lourdes was hitting .279/.331/.548 when he went on the IL, with 19 home runs.
Welcome back Lourdes.
Update: Luke Maile has been activated from the IL and will be available today.
We knew this was coming but I still tough to hear:
Jays lefty Tim Mayza confirmed torn UCL - will need tommy john surgery

Really sorry Tim.
I was looking for the last Blue Jays pitcher who had Tommy John. Maybe Roberto Osuna in 2013.
If we go back to 2008 Shaun Marcum had it done.
Mark Leiter Jr. had Tommy John surgery last March. He pitched 6 innings for us last year. And we signed David Phelps last winter while he was recovering from it. Anthony Kay had it done in 2016.
The good news is most pitchers are able to come back from it. Mayza is 27. Hopefully this is just a bump in the road and he goes on to have a good career.
Today’s Alfordless lineup. How many ways can you write a lineup without putting Alford’s name in it?
Rowdy Tellez is also sitting, but that’s because of Paxton pitching against us, not because of the slowness down the line. Cavan Biggio also gets he day off. Cavan has been so good I hate sitting him, but then I can understand it here.
