The Blue Jays have added two more arms to a crowded bullpen. Justin Shafer and Brock Stewart have been recalled by the team. Whenever I hear recalled, I picture the front office saying ‘oh year, I remember him’.
Shafer pitched 31 innings for the Blue Jays so far this season. He had a 3.19 ERA, allowing 30 hist, 4 homers, 22 walks and 29 strikeouts. The walks to inning pitched isn’t great. Batters hit .254/.371/.466 against him. In Buffalo he had a 3.52 ERA in 30.2 innings.
Stewart came to the Jays on a waiver claim from the Dodgers. As a Jay he pitched 14.1 innings, with a 3.77 ERA. He allowed 14 hits, 4 homers, 3 walks and 10 strikeouts (more homers than walks?).
And, in case you missed it, Neil Ramirez has cleared waivers and elected to take free agency.
